Jago Nari Unnayan Sangstha (JNUS) was established in January 2010 in Cox’s Bazar as a non-profit, independent organization. It is a women-led Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). The key focus of JNUS is to pro-mote gender equity and women empowerment in society. JUNS believes that women empowerment is the bedrock to promote sustainable development in Bangladesh. Form the very beginning of its’ establishment, JNUS is working in both prevention and response to Gender Based Violence (GBV) especially violence against women and children. The organization contributes to im-prove the conditions of the female victims and the youth in respect to human rights and justice. It is a common platform for regular dialogues between and among the gov-ernment, development partners, civil society, media, grassroots people and other relevant stakeholders on a whole range of subjects including Gender Based Violence, and Women Empowerment, Health, Education, Capacity Building of the Women and Youth and other issues related safety and securi-ty of women and children. It also focuses on issues related to Child Rights, Community Empowerment, WASH, Environmental prevention and Disaster Management. JNUs has a strong advocacy network, training capacity and ability to pro-duce quality policy papers and documents. It also enjoys high level of repu-tation as a credible local NGO/CBO in Cox’s Bazar. JNUS undertakes joint venture projects in collaboration with the development partners and civil society organizations for the development of the community and people. It has already developed an excellent institutional network with the key stake-holders at all levels and professional capacity to implement any activities assigned by the government and the development partners.
